About Refuge

How this ministry came about……..
Refuge House of God Deliverance Ministries was founded in January 1996, by Apostle Bettie Clay. Being led by the Holy Spirit she relocated from Richmond, Virginia to Shelby, North Carolina. With a few members, Refuge House of God and Apostle Clay made a tremendous impact in the city and surrounding areas.

After 4 ½ years in Shelby, the Lord instructed Apostle Clay to move the ministry to Charlotte, North Carolina. So being obedient to the voice of the Lord, Refuge moved to Charlotte in December 2000.

In January 2008, Pastor Tia Clay-Lynch was consecrated and appointed as Senior Pastor of Refuge. As Refuge is still Apostle Clay’s “baby” and the headquarter church of Cities of Refuge Christian Fellowship.

What is our Mission?
Refuge House of God Deliverance Ministries is committed to winning the lost at any cost, perfecting the saints and edifying the body of Christ, all for the work of ministry and the building of God’s Kingdom. To help bring deliverance to those who are bound.

It is our goal as well as our mission to reach the lost as well as encourage the saints to be effective witnesses and leaders, and to equip and train those who want to advance in life and in the Kingdom of God.

The purpose of this Church is to:
(1) Seek the salvation of the lost, through the preaching of the Gospel of Christ: Psalms 125:4,5; Proverbs 11:30; Matthew 4:15,16; Luke 14:23; John 20:21; Acts 1:8; Romans 1:16,10:14; 1 Corinthians 1:18-21;
(2) Adhere to the preaching of the Gospel for the reproof, rebuke, and exhortation of the saints: I Timothy 5:20; 2 Timothy 4:2; Titus 2:15;
(3) Experience the presence of the Lord through the vehicle of corporate worship: I Chronicles 16:29
(4) Promote Christian fellowship: 1 John 1 :3- 7.
